Krysten and Austin--Wedding Pictures
As I have finally revisited our blog I realized that HERE I promised that I would post wedding pictures from Krys and Austin's July 2010 wedding. I failed to do that--oops! That day was wonderful and I want to be sure to get some pictures in. So, months later, here are some wedding photos from their day from start to finish! Even though I haven't been blogging, I've been keeping some serious lists about what to blog about! Thus, here is our Fall 2010 "Life: In Pictures", featuring some of our favorite things from Fall:
One of my favorite things about FALL is that it becomes pumpkin season. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, carving Halloween pumpkins! We just cannot get enough around this place!
Another great thing about Fall is that it is JACKET weather! A fun time to layer up and enjoy the autumn air!
Also, two of my favorite things for any season happen to be these two creatures.
New to our home is this brand new television. This is the first ever purchase I've made that is "brand new" and boy oh boy did I have serious anxiety buying this thing! It is lovely, though and we're happy to have a television that let's us enjoy our shows together. To initiate the television we watched a little bit o' The Office.
There is something lovely about having fresh flowers in the apartment. Love them!
I apologize in advance for the love I have for this appliance. The KitchenAid has made baking and cooking a whole new adventure this fall season and I adore this machine! There is something about cooking and baking that calms and inspires me and I will continue to share my love for it! :)
I could go on about this woman for DAYS because I sure do love her. Now, let's back up. I don't know her, persay, but I am obsessed with her website, {Pioneer Woman Cooks}. The recipes she features are easy, delicious, and she even takes step-by-step photo instructions to help the more novice cook understand the process. Check out this website, there is something for everybody!
I also happen to find her to be hilarious, so bonus!
Still loving this Raspberry Wheat Ale from Pinnacle Brewing company in Price, UT. It was the gift that kept on giving!
In our experiments with calorie free sodas I have found a new love: Vanille Coke ZERO!

People of Wal*Mart
One Fall day, Becca and I found ourselves without home to return to and with lots of time on our hands because of a certain {surprise!} oven installation taking place in our apartment (for the inside scoop click here). Having only five minutes to get out of our house, here's what I ended up looking like. Imagine Becca's delight when we went to Wal*Mart and I seemed to fit right in with the all too infamous PEOPLE OF WALMART:
Harboring a Fugitive
To understand the following blog here is what you need to know about us:
1) We're harboring a fugitive by the name of Ellie
2) Both of us are rule-keepers and HATE, HATE, HATE! the thought of being in trouble.

Twas a Thursday morning at 8am when we received a knock on our door. Usually able to sleep in on Thursdays, both of us were dead to the world. The rap tap tapping on our front room door finally woke me. Any time there is a knock on the door we stow Ellie in a back bedroom so we can manage what's going on. She tends to be a very curious cat and we don't want her wandering to the open door, thus revealing herself to the world.
In this case I was glad that I had stowed her away because upon peering through the peep whole I realized that my landlord is looming on the other side. I open the door and greet Mr. Landlord as well as this:
A brand new stove and a very impatient landlord greeted me at the door. It is of note to mention that we had ZERO idea that we were even getting a new stove unit, let alone a heads up on when they would be installing. At 8am when the doorbell rang, I had a landlord at the door trying to get in to install and a sleeping girlfriend that was locked up with her very awake and curious cat. YIKES. I asked Mr. Landlord for a few minutes so that I could wake up Becca and get all three of us out of the apartment. First, though, he wanted to look at the kitchen and take some measurements. Yikes again! Finally, I ushered him out the door and he gave me five whole minutes to get ready [and get out!]
I hadn't even shut the door the whole way when I saw the cat scamper out to my feet and turned to see Becca staggering, in "pj's"and sans contacts, into the living room. "Becca!", I exclaimed, horrified that the door had only barely been safely closed and that both of these gals almost revealed too much to the world! I looked my partner square in the eyes, urging her to wake up, and said calmly, "the landlord's are delivering a stove in five minutes. We have five minutes to get Ellie out of here!"
Like lightening Becca sprang awake and we both ran around the house like crazy people gathering photos, cat toys, litter boxes, food, scratching posts, etc. What couldn't be hidden in the house was thrown in laundry baskets and buried in clothes---including the cat! Five minutes later, on the dot, the doorbell rang. It was showtime! As soon as I opened the door, Becca went straight out, past the landlord, and down to the car. The cat was hidden in her kennel, buried under clothes, inside a huge laundry basket. She got safe to the car and we were homeless for a day, rebels without a cause.
Ellie in her crate, shocked and appalled at our quick escape. She's not much for car rides, either!
Unsure of where to go we decided to swing by the PetStore to grab some kitty staples. It wasn't until we were in the very public, very broad light of day that Becca noticed that I had my shirt on both BACKWARDS and INSIDE OUT. Keepin it classy!
This just shows you how fast we left our apartment!

Without elsewhere to go we headed toward Sandy where we took shelter in a pet refuge known as Momma Janene's.
We walked in to find that it was nap time for the current kitty in residence....
And the pups!
We finally let the cat go in a bedroom that has been kitty proofed and is far away from the other animals of the house.
She got right down to joining the rest of the house in naptime.
And after a very stressful morning of escaping with our lives {and our cat}, so did Becca....

Home Improvement
Almost a year into living together in our avenue apartment and we're feeling like it is starting to finally look and feel like home. Here is Becca's move in day in April 2010:

Now we're starting to get a little decorating bug and are putting some home-y touches on our apartment pad... here are our most recent HOME IMPROVEMENTS!
A little IKEA furniture and some self-painted decor have spiced up our white washed bedroom. These lamp shades didn't last long, however, due to a certain feline who has been previously mentioned in this blog. Won't name names or anything....
Furniture covers are a PAIN but our couches were FREE, so we'll deal with the covers for now!
Love the drapes in the living room so much that there are twins in the bedroom as closet covers, as well!
If you know me at all you know that I am HANDS DOWN, in LOVE with my KitchenAid. I have been saving for this one for a while and I'm hear to tell you that it was worth every single penny. This is the single best purchase that I have made. Love you, boo!
We swapped out our dinosaur TV and broken stand for a sassy new flat screen (on sale, of course) and an IKEA entertainment center. This DIY project turned out great in the end, but let me tell you it was ROUGH for a while. FIVE HOURS after opening the boxes to start the build we finally had something to show for it. We won't count the swear words, tears, or times that the cat went behind closed doors in order for this bad boy to go down!
One of the things our home was lacking was decor and pictures! I'm big on pictures and wanted space to put more up.
Thus, here are some cheap IKEA shelves along with a little bamboo to fill up a previously very empty wall.
Believe it or not, I have been here for 2 years without a vacuum! Once Ellie fluffed out into the ginormous cat that she is we realized pretty quickly that a heavy duty pet vac was more than needed. This vacuum has saved our lives! No bags to replace, a soft motor, and check out all the hair it pulls up in just one run! Gross, right? Yeah, I couldn't love it more because it means it is off the carpet!
Finally, not a project we instigated but definitely one that we love! Here is our previous oven/stove, circa 1970's...
And here is my brand new baby! I love love love this new oven, thanks landlords! Stay tuned for the story about the day the landlord knocked on our door at 8am with a stove in hand... cat crisis ensued!
These are our home improvements for now! We're loving the new look of the apartment. I have to CALM DOWN when it comes to decorating (I love it so much I could do it all day and spend all of our money...), but the next room under construction is our bedroom, so I'll keep you posted! Photos of the bathroom and the spare bedroom to come because they're looking good!

Shnoo.
We have a word in our house for a nose that won't quit and a head that is throbbing because of it: schnoo. It's code for the ultimate head cold that kills taste buds, wipes out work schedules, and is just well, schnoo-ey.
I've got the schnoo. I've had it for about three days now and am really starting to go CrAzY from the cabin fever that accompanies it. Thus, here is an update on our life. Looks like it has been since October 2010 that I've blogged... that means over 3 months of catch up!!!
