Fierce: Wanna Be on Top?
Becca and I are fans of America's Next Top Model. As such, we take the opportunity to conduct impromptu photo shoots when we are able. Here is Becca's "Desert Beauty" photo shoot:
Moab/Arches (Day 3)
Day 3
Eclekticafe on Main Street in Moab. We loved this place! The atmosphere was fun and organic, the lady that ran the counter was extremely nice and quirky, and the food was wonderful! One of our favorite things about this location was that it was a vegetarian's gold mine! Sometimes it is hard to find places we like that offer a lot of veggie options, but this menu had plenty to offer. We were happy to be at a place that offered plenty of choice and a tasty breakfast. A nice way to start the day and prepare for another day of hiking.

The weather was so nice for our trip! A fun couple of days in a beautiful desert!

After this hike we headed home, reluctantly. It was a great trip!
Moab/Arches (Day 2)
Day 2:
Rise and shine and make the lunches. We forgot to pack utensils so we used our brand new trowel. Again... it was new. :) First stop: Delicate Arch.

It is a little bizarre to go from red rock to sandy desert.
Becca on the last little stretch before the natural unveiling of the arch. This is her favorite hike so I had the camera ready so that I could capture her reaction:

This crow was hanging out right by us. He is LOUD and surprisingly very big.
Becca was brave enough to trek over to the arch so she could take a picture beneath it. The only thing that I remember about this hike from when I was younger is the sheer drop off on the back of this sucker... For that reason I decided to stay on solid ground and be the photographer.
For the life of me, I can't get this picture to rotate correctly. This meal must be documented, however, because it was DELICIOUS! Becca's parents were in Moab a few days before we were and they recommended that we try Fiesta Mexicana for dinner. I am always hesitant to eat Mexican food at a restaurant because, let's face it, nothing is ever as good as the real stuff! However, I'm happy to report that this restaurant was WONDERFUL! The staff were very nice and even though they are busy busy the service is really good. The owner is on hand most days and he is really friendly and interested in creating a great experience. Above all, the food is authentic and tasty beyond compare. Fiesta Mexicana makes The Red Iguana look like Taco Bell. We loved this place so much we ate there two nights in a row for dinner.

Fall Break: Moab/Arches National Park (Day 1)
We loved our Staycation in August, but we were REALLY excited to get out of dodge for a few days on our first Vacation since the first of the year. Thank you, dear U of U, for scheduling a Fall Break! For October 10-12 we enjoyed a mini-trip down to Moab where we enjoyed the town as well as Arches National Park. It was my first time to the town of Moab (that I remember) and it is Becca's favorite place on earth. We couldn't wait!
Day 1:
Saying goodbye to Ellie
This is the TWO PAGE note that I left on instructions for taking care of the cat. Ridiculous!

Becca saw this cemetery off the side of the road in the canyon. We thought it looked kind of cool so we turned around on the canyon road and decided to check things out!

This little birdhouse was sitting outside the chain link fence that surrounded the headstones in this beautiful place. The pink notebook is a guest book documenting tales of travels from people all over the west. Such a cool thing to read! A very fun moment of connecting to history--both very old and very new 'history'. We loved it. Nice eyes, Becca!
We stopped in Price at a local pub for food. The ale was delicious--a very summery raspberry wheat. The food wasn't great, but we walked away with a growler of the good stuff!

Made it to Moab! Stayed at the Ramada Inn on Moab's Main Street. We DO NOT recommend! When we got in to the first room they gave us we realized that we could sit on the toilet and eat a sandwhich on kitchen counter at the same time. Not conducive for my long legs!
